about

This song was originally written and performed by The Slits, featuring our dear friend Ariane Forster, aka Ari Up, aka Madusa, on their 1979 album Cut. We played many of Ari's songs with her during our years of friendship and collaboration, but never this one. And we've never recorded any of her songs before.

Then our friends at the Specialized Project UK asked us to record a classic punk tune for their new collection "Punk Pioneers: The Roots of Punk Rock," so we chose to make this as tribute to Ari's massive contribution to the world of punk. The compilation, which features many of our friends, raises funds for Teenage Cancer Trust, and you can and should buy it here:

The song was recorded in our home studio (Wassako Park) with our own equipment and just the two of us going crazy playing everything. We also reached out to Slits bassie Tessa Pollitt, who gave us her blessings. We're proud to put this out and help spread the Slits legacy a little further.
